Amazing Places

I've been lucky enough to travel to many fantastic places. My Grandmother introduced this to me when I was very young. She had travel for much of life going to places like Russia and China when, during the Cold War, such travel was difficult.

My Grandmother Martha took me to Africa, Alaska, the historic East Coast and South America. These tripes were fantastic and gave me a taste for the world outside the borders of the USA and North America.

After a long break from travel abroad I took a cycling trip in France and SPain which was just fantastic and reminded me how diverse the world, even the Western World is.

Bike Month--Just Dandy

So it's May and Bike Month whatever that is.  What it is in Seattle is hundreds of people "doing the right thing" while not having a clue.  Clue how their bike works, clue how to get to their workplace without a freeway, or clue of their rights and responsibilities on the cyclist on the road.

The fixie jumped the shark 6 months ago.  Today I watched one fixie nearly launch herself because she forgot she was a fixie.  A second people and drivers to erradict things. Hmmm

2008 Wednesday Night Worlds

Yesterday was the first Wednesday Night Worlds at South SeaTac. It usually takes a few weeks before numbers get big for the race. Wick has never been great at advertising and people find out that the series has stared via word of mouth. But this year was different! Biggest draw to the first event I can remember. I bet his numbers were over 200. I must have been the combination of good weather and a mention on the Indie Series forum.

It was good to see everyone and a lot have seem to have spent $$$ on new rigs this year. Some Giants, a few Scotts and a pink Ellsworth to name a few. My trusty Intense Spider is still doing just find. I really don't think anyone has come up with a design much better than the Spiders VPP.

Jimmy Hendrix spent some time this winter putting in a new section of singletrack. It was really nice and has a killer berm. A great addition to the trail network.

I was pretty happy with my effort. My planned March build up pretty much went in the crapper do to recurring bursitis in my knees. All is better now but I'm pretty much off mark fitness wise.

The first Indie Series at this same local is going to be a test.

No Better Words

Today I read this " Practicality is using the right tool for the right job. Save the jewels for the ball--don't wear them to the bar" from BSNYC.

REminds of this guy I see from time to time on my commute to/from work. He rides a Merlin, full Record, Zipp 330, PowerTap and the f'd up improve your spin cranks. Rides that to work. WTF.
