New Belgium

Has there ever been better bike racing sponsor? I think not. I wonder how much Lora Heckman has to do with this. I miss that girl.

The First Few Races

Cross season has had a good start in the NorthWest. Which I could say the same. The first race was a Fort Steilcoom park which is pretty brutal. The main run-up is about 80m and is followed up by 2 punchy climbs and long false flat out to the far end of the course. It's a tough section to keep heartrate under control early in the season. I was doing well, moving up after a poor line-up until the 30 minute mark when I mis-timed a barrier and took it chest. It was a hard fall and I'm pretty lucky to have not broken anything. That slowed me a lot I was passed endlessly. I finished just for some points.

The following weekend was a double with Starcross followed by S. SeaTac. I got kitted up for Starcross, but didn't start. I just didn't feel good and the bike and just really tired. Didn't feel any better Sunday and decided to stay home and watch football.

The ride in the work today was pretty funny. I left a little earlier than usual and when I got to the light in Fremont I was blown away. There were a good 20 riders stopped in front of me. GOOD to see. The guy in front me was one of those agro commuters and as the group headed up the Dexter hill this guy was just weaving in and out of people to get in front. I know I should laugh at this guy, but once riders spread out I picked it up and passed this charging fool just before the top. I RULE...that is until tonight at CX practice when I'll get schooled I for sure.
